University of Liverpool

It was The University of Liverpool's open day recently and my daughter wanted to go and look around the university as its on her list of 5 to see so off we went to check out its English Lit course, facilities and Liverpool's wider offering. We travelled up the M6 on an early Saturday morning and punched in the suggested postcode for the nearest car park to the university. With the carpark located and the car safely parked up the first photo captured was the one of the bikes. A sight which will be seen more and more throughout Britain over the coming years.

Things were buzzing around the university and registration was taken care of very quickly. Plenty of stalls offering food and help on uni life.

Below is the beautiful Abercromby Square right in the centre of the university. You can imagine relaxing with a book and a latte here.

A very moving statue commemorating Captain Noel Chavasse Read about it here.

A little bit of student life perhaps below.

The magnificent Victoria Gallery & Museum housed in the Victoria Building which is run by the university. It's a gorgeous redbrick building which is apparently where the term redbrick university originated from.

Right by the University of Liverpool sits the very modern and impressive Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral which opened in 1967, although modern its a very impressive piece of architecture.

Having been to and done everything we needed to do at the university we had plenty of time to spare and so headed into Liverpool City centre. The university really is only a stones throw from the City. An impressive bit of sand art on our way in and although we never actually saw the sculpting it was still pretty cool.

 A shoppers delight?

Hair for a night out??

As we made our way through the City we were getting close to The dock area and the Mersey.

Spotted.......A couple University of Birmingham students having a wander around the Waterfront area.

The Tate - Liverpool
A quick scout around the Albert Dock and we soon found a Costa Coffee for a quick Latte and some Millionaires shortbread.
